"Where is it that you do not want to be in five years?"- a great question
A few weeks ago I read an article on interviewing in Inc. magazine. This is one of the suggested questions to ask a prospective hire. Why? Most people do not have a canned answer for it.
I also feel it is a great question but maybe for a different reason. I believe it is a great question to ask ourselves at least once a month. Where do you want to be in five years and equally important where you do not want to be?
I believe that most people will answer quickly by saying not here. But that is not really a good answer. It is not specific enough for you to tell where you actually want to be. Usually the opposite of what you do not want is what you really want.
You have to clearly identify it as something definite that you do not want. Remember that God has a sense of humor, so if you are not clear you will get something that has elements of what you want with elements of what you do not want.
Today's question is:
"Where is it that you do not want to be in five years?"
