"Many fear death...heroes only confront it once"-Anonymous

The other night I watched an OK movie.  I like Ed Norton as an actor and have seen him in many good movies.

The Leaves of Grass movie was OK.  However, even an OK movie can entertain and surprisingly educate.

In the movie the main character utters the following thoughts at his brother's funeral:
"Diogenes Laertius has recorded for us the Greek Philosopher Epicurus' thoughts on death.

'It is irrational to ear an event, if when that event occurs we're not in existence.  And since when death is, we are not and when we are, death is not then it's irrational to fear death.'  One might just as well, Epicurus argued, fear birth."

I do not think I have ever been afraid of death.  Maybe of it occurring too early and not being able to complete the things that are important to me.  I have never thought of it in the terms that Epicurus thought of it.  I do agree with him that it is irrational to fear it.

What this passage made me think of is what other fears we have that are irrational.

Today's question is:
"What irrational fear are you holding on to?"
