Intuitive vs. Rational Mind
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift"- Albert Einstein
Our world has become more and more driven by rational thought. We expect B to follow A. We expect C to follow B. Everything has a logical place.
But does the world truly work that way? My answer is that most of the time our rational thinking will lead us along the correct direction. Moving along that direction will eventually help us find the answer.
All rational thinking can do is lead us to a predictable solution. But that is where it all falls apart. The predictable solution is not often the innovative or out of the box solution. The predictable solution will lead us to a local minimum or a maximum (good enough answer) but will never lead us to the global maximum or minimum solution (the true best answer).
This is where the intuitive mind can help and it is the only way to achieve great results outside of the current patterns we find ourselves in. As Albert advises, the intuitive mind is a sacred gift. It allows us to see beyond pure rational thought. To get outside our mind we have to feel it with our body. It has to move our hearts. It has to involve more than logic.
The difference in these types of thinking leads to drastically different results. Consider where Microsoft ended up with Zoom and Apple with iPod. Both were creating a product that allows them to capture lots of songs in digital format in a small package.
Today's question is:
"How do we use both types of minds?"
